My fellow sugar lovers, this is for you. Patissez is not just any restaurant – it’s a shake shop. But, when I say ‘shake’ I mean a whole monster of a beverage.

The restaurant is in Canberra, the capital of Australia, in a lovely outdoor shopping center. It is mostly known for its outrageous ‘FreakShakes’ but also serves a killer brunch and lunch. I’m not even embarrassed to say that the entire trip to Canberra was kinda planned because of this restaurant. Yes, I convinced two lactose intolerant friends to drive to Canberra, three hours away, to drink milkshakes with me – no joke.
This all began because I was in a social media marketing class at the time, and we were studying companies who rocked Instagram – Patissez was one of them. Their shakes had recently gone viral because of their extravagant appearances (and deliciousness). Here are some pictures from their instagram and a link for tastiness proof: @patissez
If your mouth isn’t watering right now, you might as well skip to the next article. If it is, we should definitely be friends and drink shakes together. The FreakShakes are completely handmade, start to finish, and because Patissez is a phenomenal bake shop, they’ve mastered all of their decorations and toppings too! The shakes don’t look too large when you first see them, but they’re so rich that it’s a whole mission just to finish them. The milk they use is from the Australian countryside which means it’s super fresh and great quality leading to the shake being extra creamy and rich. When my two friends and I were there, we each ordered a different shake, so we could try each others and see who had the best one. I’m not kidding when I say we literally could not decide which was best. All three of our shakes were unique and flavored perfectly to the point where you really can’t compare them. We ordered some thick cut fries too, just incase we got brain-freezes, but luckily the shake is so rich that you almost can’t drink it quick enough to give yourself a brain-freeze. My shake, the Mint Condition, was absolutely awesome and I could not have been more happy with it! By the time we were leaving (we went for brunch) there were dozens of people beginning to line up for fresh pastries and taking pictures of all the beautiful foods at the restaurant.
If you’re ever in the Canberra area, definitely stop by this restaurant, you won’t regret it. Well, unless you’re lactose intolerant, but even then, the shakes are totally worth it. Fortunately, Patissez has opened up more stores around the world in India as well as Qatar, so more people can be blessed with their delicious creations.
